Lighting Opportunity Abounds in C&I Sector
Improved performance, reduced cost & historically low adoption rates
With changing Federal lighting standards, commercial and industrial (C&I) lighting is poised for tremendous growth in utility-based energy savings programs. While residential markets have increasingly adopted LED technology over the years, C&I LED market saturation remains low and offers significant potential for future energy savings, especially when paired with networked lighting controls.
In fact, the Department of Energy (DOE) estimates that adoption of efficient LED linear products is as low as 10 percent as of 2019. With utility program promotion, energy savings from C&I LED lighting is expected to grow exponentially through 2022, with sustained growth through 2024. Indoor products are not expected to reach their high point of adoption and energy savings until the mid-2020s, according to the DOE.
